Album title is used here as an example, but the same steps apply to other fields, including Artist and Album Artist. First, confirm that the Album name is exactly the same for all tracks comprising the album. Even slight differences, such as an otherwise invisible space at the end of the title, will result in it being listed as a different album.
If the album titles are identical, the Album field will show the title. In this case, type or paste the album title as you would like it to be listed. Click OK to save and close Get Info window.
FYI in one instance I also had to delete the artwork, then re-add it in order to get the audiobook files to group properly. This should group them together as an album — then you can simply repeat the process and uncheck Compilation and they should stay grouped. Albums are often designed to be listened to as complete sets for instance movie soundtracks and Broadway musicals.
I have shoulder issues and CANNOT manually go through all of the clicks needed to fix every track on every album that new versions of iTunes screwed up. I have compilation albums where the tracks are split across two albums with the same name. Cannot figure out how to fix this …. If you have missing tracks or duplicate albums, it's likely that the metadata is inaccurate. If the album names of two tracks differ by one letter or an additional space, they are displayed separately.
If the album metadata for certain tracks hasn't been filled out at all, you won't see them in the Albums view. Open the Songs tab in the Music section of iTunes and make sure the Album information for each track is showing -- right-click on the column headings to add the Album column if necessary. To make sure a certain group of tracks are grouped together, select them all then right-click and choose "Get Info.
Go into iTunes and select the song which is split from the album Right click on it and choose "Show in Finder". It should be in the same folder as the other songs. If not there probably is a difference in the album name. Go back to iTunes Select the song and press Delete. Answer Keep File in the popup.
